L: Deep down in the ocean, far enough that there's no sunlight, Blubby and Emilio arrive via a small submarine to a deep sea research base they've recently been hired by. They've been called down for what will be their first assignment, though they haven't yet been told what that will entail.
Blubby looks out a window, seeing nothing beyond the base's lights. "Man, I'm kind of nervous, I've never been this far underwater before..."
S: meanwhile, I was huddling in the corner of the submarine, terrifed after I saw how deep down we are from the life giving surface, I was also shivering in fear
"Y-y-you think your nervous!? I'm beyond nervous! I can't believe you talked me into doing this whole underwater research thing!"
L: "I'm sure we'll find a way to enjoy ourselves down here! Not many people ever get to see all this, you know!"
S: "Good point, but still! Does it have to be so far down? Why can't it all be in the shallow end...ugh..." I frown as I clearly wasn't gonna enjoy this at all, and I don't know why I agreed to work here, it's at least better then being in space...
L: "They must have a good reason for this being so far underwater... And we won't necessarily need to go outside or anything, we'll probably just be staying inside."
S: "If that's the case then maybe it won't be so bad... I'll never get used to this depth but I don't have to look outside... I really hope we don't have to go outside..."
L: "Well, let's go let our boss know we're here so we can see what we'll need to do. I'm sure it'll be pretty easy, given that it'll be our first time."
S: "Right, yeah... and hopefully talk the boss into going easy on me for the times I'm there... let's hope they are understanding and nice"
L: "I think they will, I doubt we have anything to worry about." Blubby starts heading through the research base to where his and your boss is.
S: I was a bit scared to come along but eventually I follow blubby towards our boss
L: Soon enough, he and you get to the boss's office, meeting up with the haxorus you two work for.
Haxorus: "Ah, glad you two could make it. Emilio, you seem a bit nervous..."
Blubby: "Yeah, he's really not a fan of being so far underwater..."
S: "I'm not even a fan of being underwater in general honestly! It's only on rare days that I actually enjoy myself down here, but definitely not today!"
L: Haxorus: "Hm... Well, hopefully you'll manage to get used to it. So, first thing for you to do: We still don't have much information about the sea floor around here, so I need you to explore around outside nearby and see if you can find anything interesting."
Blubby: "Well, I'M fine with that, but I don't think Emilio will be..."
S: "W-what?!" my eyes go wide as I heard that
"Absolutely NOT! I'm not going out there dozens of feet underwater! No way!"
L: Haxorus: "You'll be fine, you've got Blubby with you! He can give you all the air you'll need, and you'll have some lights too!"
Blubby: "Yeah, this'll be okay, don't worry!"
S: "No! I'm not going out there! I was hoping I wouldn't have to! I'm just gonna be wasting all my air with how terrifed I'm gonna be!"
L: Haxorus: "What if you find something amazing out there, like treasure or a new species or something?"
Blubby: "I think that would make it worth it!"
S: "That would be cool... ugh!" I sigh heavily
"I still don't know..."
L: Haxorus: "Oh, right, we've been working on something here that might help some! They're these things you wear that'll let you talk clearly underwater! But, it still won't give you air..."
Blubby: "Cool, that's probably still gonna be a big help!"
S: "Well I guess being able to talk clearly without having the embarrassment of bubbletalk does make me feel a little better, but still it doesn't change the fact that I'm scared!"
L: Haxorus: "Yeah, had a feeling that wouldn't be enough..." He sighs, clearly getting frustrated. "Maybe you weren't a good pick for this after all..."
Blubby: "Come on, Emilio, neither of us are ever gonna get this chance again!"
S: "I'm not sure why you thought I would be a good pick... ugh, but I didn't wanna come down here for absolutely nothing either"
L: Haxorus: "Look, if you do this, I'll try to find a way to make sure you don't have to go back out there, at least not without some way to breathe."
S: I knew that was gonna be challenging, finding a way for me to safely breathe while we explore, but I shake my head and sigh once again
"Oh alright... I'll do it...or at least try to..."
L: Blubby: "Thank you!"
Haxorus: "Alright, I'll get you two set up with those devices I mentioned and some lights, you'll be pretty much as prepared as you can be."
S: "Fine..." deep down I was still nervous, but I try to not let it overpower me
L: The haxorus reaches into his desk and gets out two of what look like necklaces, handing one to you and putting the other on Blubby for him. "These are what'll let you talk clearly underwater."
S: "Interesting I guess..." I put on the other necklace
L: Haxorus: "And you'll find some lights you can grab in the airlock. Now, head on out, and try to find a way to have fun!"
Blubby: "Alright, let's get going, Emilio."
S: I gulp nervously
"Ok...I'm gonna try my best to have some fun then, as scared as I am..."
L: Blubby heads to the airlock with you, starting to look a little bit nervous himself again. "I hope the water pressure's not gonna be an issue... I'm pretty tough, but I don't know whether you'll be able to handle it very well..."
S: "Oh no, I didn't even THINK about the water pressure, I don't know if i can handle it at all, it's gonna be so rough on me..."
L: "Well, we'll be able to sort of test it out as the airlock changes the pressure, and we'll certainly have plenty of time to get used to it with me being there."
S: "I don't wanna get a headache from the pressure... it's gonna make me more miserable... ughhh!!!!"
L: "Maybe it won't be that bad once we get used to it... But I'll do what I can to keep you comfortable during all that."
S: "Oh fine... just expect me not to have any fun while we do this!"
L: "I'm sure we'll find a way to make this fun for you."
Blubby and you get to the airlock, where the dragon straps a headlamp on himself.
S: I find another headlamp and strap it to myself too, and I grab a pair of goggles as well and put them on reluctantly
L: "Alright, it's time to get started... Try to stay as calm as you can, okay? I know this is probably gonna take multiple tries, but hopefully it'll be quick."
S: "There's no way I'm gonna be able to stay calm! I'm gonna be in a full blown panic everytime!"
L: "We'll be able to make this work eventually, I know it. For now, we have to at least give it a shot..." Blubby closes the inner door and sets the airlock to start filing with water.
S: "Ahhhh!!!!" I was starting to panic already when the water was starting to fill, it was giving me so much anxiety
L: "It's okay, it's okay! I'm not gonna let you drown, or even get low on breath at all!" Blubby gives you a hug.
S: I whimper and whine as I hug blubby back
"I don't like it! I don't like it! I don't like it!!!"
L: Blubby starts inhaling as much as he can in preparation for the room being completely filled, pausing to talk. "You've got nothing to worry about, everything's fine!"
S: I was still whining and i wasn't preparing myself for the long dive ahead, I was too nervous
L: Just before the room would completely fill, Blubby pauses the flooding, keeping the water level where it's at. "This isn't gonna work... Like you said, you're just gonna lose all your air..."
S: I look up at blubby sadly and somewhat cutely
"I-im sorry blubby, I'm sorry for being such a chicken at this, I just can't help that I'm so terrifed at this stuff!"
L: "I know, it's alright. We'll take as long as you need to get comfortable enough for this. There's enough water in here now that you'd be able to go under and get used to it again, if you want."
S: "W-well..." I look down at the water below
"I guess that's a good idea... where's my treecko buddy when I need him! Ugh..."
L: "Maybe we'll be able to bring him along next time we come down here... For now, we just have to hope we'll be able to do this without him."
S: "I don't know about that, treecko is usually the person who always convinces me to go underwater, almost everytime! That's gonna be hard..."
L: "Well, this might end up being one of the times where someone else manages it, who knows? And hey, we'll actually be able to talk to each other down there for once!"
S: "That's a good point...I don't have to worry about bubbletalking this time..."
L: "How about we just try that out first? Maybe being able to talk clearly will be a big enough help that you'll be able to handle this."
S: "Hmm, not a bad idea...ok let's give that a try..." I lower my goggles over my eyes as I reluctantly prepare myself for the first dive of the day
L: Blubby resumes inhaling until his lungs are full. "Okay, you ready?"
S: "I don't got a choice here... but yes I guess I'm ready to go...oh jeez..."
L: Blubby nods. "3, 2, 1..." He holds his breath and dips his head below the water.
S: I whimper loudly as I look down at the water, I take a deep breath to calm myself down for the moment before I hold my breath as well and dip underwater, my eyes tightly shut
L: After a moment of hesitation, looking down at the necklace he's got on, Blubby tries out talking. "...Alright, let's see- Oh wow, it really is perfectly clear!" Bubbles still float free as he talks, but they aren't obscuring his voice at all.
S: my eyes go wide as I heard blubby talk so clearly while underwater, it was my turn to try
"Testing....testing...Whoa! This is bizarre... cool!" I felt slightly better knowing that I can talk clearly as bubbles escaped me when I talked
L: "Yeah, this is neat! We're not gonna have any trouble out there at all with this helping us!"
S: "I'll admit it, I feel a little better now... im still nervous tho..."
L: "Well, do you want to try filling this the rest of the way and starting to raise the pressure? We wouldn't even have to leave right away, we could just wait until you get used to it."
S: "I don't know blubby, the pressure is really making me nervous and I don't know if I can actually handle it, what if I can't handle it at all!?"
L: "We won't know until you try! Maybe it'll just feel like a tight hug!"
S: "I guess I don't know...but I'm really nervous! I've never really felt immense water pressure like thus before"
L: "I've felt that kind of pressure before, just not as intense as this'll be. It just felt like I was being squeezed all over, it didn't hurt or anything. But, like I said earlier, I can probably endure more than you..."
S: "Yeah, I'm not gonna be able to endure it at all I don't think"
my face was turning red
L: "We should at least check. Oh, and here." Blubby blows out a big bubble for you to breathe, briefly forgetting that the room's not entirely flooded.
S: Knowing I could just go up and breathe I decided to wait for a bit and inhale the bubble instead
L: "Do you want me to get the airlock to start raising the pressure now? We're going to have to at some point, so we may as well get it over with."
S: "Wait" I go back up to what's left of the air and gasp in it a few times before coming hack down
"Ok...now I'm ready..."
L: Blubby quickly refills as well. "Alright, here we go..." He sets the airlock to resume its process, and the rest of the space is flooded and the pressure begins to increase.
S: as the pressure starts to increase, I try my best to endure it, but the pressure down in these depths were harsh for me, I look up at blubby fearfully, it's clear I couldn't handle it at all, no matter how hard I try, a burst of bubbles escaping me with how tight it feels around me
L: "This isn't gonna work..." Blubby makes the airlock lower the pressure back down for now, returning a bit of air to the room as well.
S: I immediately scramble up to the little air pocket and gasp for breath, a bit disappointed
"I'm sorry blubby! I couldn't do it! That pressure is insane!"
L: Blubby raises his head above the water as well. "Even I was having a little trouble there, and it wasn't even done yet... This is really not gonna be easy."
S: "What do we do now?! Ain't no way I'm gonna be able to handle that immense pressure!"
L: "Maybe we take it in steps, and get ourselves used to a bit of pressure before raising it some? That's all I can think of."
S: "I don't want our boss to be disappointed in us if this is a fail so...as much as I don't want to feel the pressure again... ughh!!!!" I was so frustrated by all this that I slap the water's surface, splashing me and blubby a bit
L: At you unintentionally splashing him a little, Blubby smiles and playfully splashes you back.
S: "Hey!" I smile just a little before splashing blubby myself
L: Blubby laughs before splashing you once again, his prior nervousness quickly fading away.
S: my own nerves were fading too as I laugh a bit too, splashing blubby again as well
L: Blubby plays with you for a while more, before he remembers that something has to get done. "Oh, right, we're gonna have to get going soon, shouldn't keep our boss waiting... But that was fun, at least!"
S: "You know what, I feel a bit more better after doing that, oh wait!" I playfully dunk blubby underwater
"NOW I feel much better! Haha!"
L: Blubby quickly surfaces again, spitting out a bit of water as he laughs again. "I knew we'd find a way to have fun with this job!"
S: "Heh, yeah I guess so huh? I definitely feel better doing that, so thank blubby" I give him a big hug
"I think I'm ready to go this time"
L: Blubby hugs you back. "You're welcome! I'm sure this'll go better this time." He starts filling his lungs all the way again, having mostly exhaled during the playing.
S: I start to deeply breathe to prepare my lungs
"I still don't know if I'll be able to handle the pressure tho, but I'm gonna try my very best!"
L: After a while, Blubby's full on air again. "Alright, ready whenever you are."
S: I was full on air too and I nod
"I'm ready as ill ever be blubby"
L: Blubby nods back, and sets the airlock to fill and pressurize again as he holds his breath.
S: just before the water could submerge us I too hold my breath as we are forced back down, I started to feel the pressure again which while it made me whine, I try to my best to endure it
L: Blubby hugs you to try to help keep you calm. "Hang in there... You'll get used to it, it might just take a while."
S: "This is so rough..." I hug blubby back, but the pressure wasn't getting any better, it was really really hard for me to endure it, and blubby could tell I was really struggling but I was fighting it all at the same time
L: "It'll get easier... We can wait in here for as long as it takes, eventually it won't be as much of an issue any more."
S: "I-i hope so... but at the same time I don't wanna waste our valuable time..."
L: "Maybe we could try heading outside for a little while? Not too far from the airlock, in case you can't handle the pressure any more."
S: "Yeah... ok, we can do that..."
L: Blubby nods, and opens up the door to the outside. The seafloor out there is pretty barren, and nothing outside the range of the base's lights is visible.
S: I whimper a bit as I see nothing but the darkness ahead
"Oh jeez that looks so scary!! Ahhhh!!!"
L: "It's okay, we've got our own lights!" Blubby turns on his headlamp, which does help quite a bit with visibility.
S: I turn on mine too and it does help a bit
"It's still pretty dark... but it's better I guess....ugh, this immense pressure is giving me a headache...I don't know how much further I can go"
L: "Then we'd better look around quick before it gets to be too much for you. Come on, let's go see what's out there!" Blubby walks out onto the seafloor.
S: "R-right" pinching my nose shut I float over to follow blubby on the seafoor... I looked up at the surface and whined as I saw how far away it was
"T-thats far!!! Yipe!"
L: "Now you know how I feel, not being able to swim to the surface... Try not to think about it too much, we're not that far from fresh air."
S: "Oh but life giving surface air is so good... ugh!"
L: "Yeah, air directly from the surface is still a lot better... Let's just start exploring, and see if we can find something that'll get our minds off that."
S: "That's kind of hard... I don't like being so far away from the real surface... it's making me uneasy..."
L: "Hopefully we'll be able to get used to it if we have to keep doing this... Maybe there'll be some kind of cool fish out here we can meet, too."
S: "Maybe I don't know, one things for sure, I'm not coming back down here this deep without my treecko buddy, that's the last time I do that!"
L: "He would definitely be pretty helpful for next time, I hope it'll be okay to bring him down here."
S: "If it's to be with me I wouldn't see how he would reject that idea" my face was already fully red, from both the pressure and the talking
L: "I know he'd be up for it, but I'm just not really sure what our boss would think about bringing down someone that doesn't work for him..." As he notices your red face, Blubby blows out a bubble for you to breathe.
S: I inhale the bubble, my fave returning to normal
"Well I'm sure if I explain everything to him that he'll let me bring him along"
L: "He seems pretty nice, yeah, I bet he'd be okay with it. Especially if we actually find something interesting out here..."
S: "Yeah...which I hope we do, otherwise this whole thing would have been for nothing"
L: After a bit more exploring, the two begin to see a light moving in the distance.
"Oh, there's finally something out there!"
S: "What is that? Hopefully nothing too scary!"
L: "Normally I'd say we shouldn't get too close, but we should be fine in this case... Let's go see what that is." Blubby starts cautiously heading for the source of the light.
S: I slowly float over to the source of the light too, wondering what it could be as I let some nervous bubbles loose from my mouth
L: Upon getting closer, you and Blubby can see what it is: Some kind of snake-like fish with arms, about 10 feet long, with a few glowing spots on its body.
The creature squints at the light from the headlamps. "J-jeez, your lights are so bright..."
S: "Oh my! S-sorry..." I point my light away from them just a little so they are not staring directly at it
L: Blubby angles his away some as well. "Right, sorry, your eyes wouldn't be used to this..."
The fish-snake looks a little confused at the bubbles you and Blubby are letting out. "...What are those shiny blobs leaving your mouths?"
S: "Oh these?" I blow a string of bubbles for a moment, my face slightly red
"It's bubbles, you see uhh...me and my friend here blubby can't breathe underwater like you can, we need air... and have to hold our breathes too...not fun"
L: Fish-snake: "Can't say I know what air is, but... You can't breathe here? Sounds like you really shouldn't be down here."
Blubby: "Well, we're here for research... And actually, you seem to be the exact kind of thing we're looking for!"
S: "Yeah! It's harder on us since we can't breathe, especially for me! I hate being down these depths...it was hard enough to even come here honestly, blubby had to really convince me"
L: Fish-snake: "I certainly wouldn't be too keen on going somewhere I can't breathe... Even going higher up in water doesn't go well for me, the low pressure and bright lights are a real issue."
Blubby: "Yeah, I've heard that deep-sea creatures don't do very well without a lot of pressure around them."
S: "Yeah, and I don't do well with all this pressure around me, it's making me so uncomfortable right now!" my whole face is red again
L: Blubby blows out another bubble for you, his horns about 10% of the way blue now.
Fish-snake: "Well, um... You guys seem alright, so is there a place we could talk that would work better for you?"
S: I inhale the bubble and return to normal colors
"Well, I rather be out of the water right now and back at our research lab... or better yet back to the surface where I belong"
L: Fish-snake: "I definitely can't go to the surface with you, but that lab might work if it's down here."
Blubby: "Yeah, it's pretty much as the same depth as we are right now!"
S: "Yeah, I guess that'll work... just gotta figure out a way to--"
suddenly the three of them hear a voice from a distance
??? - "Hey! What's all the noise over here?!"
a new kind of creature approaches, this one looks a bit bizarre, it looks like it's in a shape of a dolphin, but with a lizard like tail, no blowhole... and arms in the shape of a snake on each one
L: The fish-snake turns to them. "Apparently these guys are visiting from the surface world!"
Blubby: "Oh wow, you look really neat! And yeah, we're just exploring around down here."
S: Me - "Whoa!! Creepy, but cool!"
Dolphin-Snake - "The surface world you say? I've heard of that place..." they look over at blubby and me curiously
"What kind of creatures are you two supposed to be?"
L: Blubby: "I'm a dragon, Emilio is a lizard. And my name's Blubby, by the way."
Fish-snake: "You sure you're not aquatic? Think I met a fish named Blubby once."
S: Dolphin-Snake - "Ohhh! I think I know who your talking about, I think I met him too"
Me - "Heh, maybe it's a common fish name or something"
L: Fish-snake: "Yeah, I've heard of a few different fish with that name."
Blubby: "Well, I'm definitely not aquatic. Blubby isn't my real name, but I prefer it by a lot."
S: Me - "Yep" my face once again turns fully red
Dolphin-Snake - "Oh really? Blubby isn't your real name? Then what is your real name? I'm curious"
L: Blubby: "N-no, I don't want to talk about it..." He blows out another bubble for you.
Fish-snake: "It's a sensitive thing, huh? Fair enough."
S: I inhale the bubble
"Oh come on! It can't be THAT bad! Just tell us!"
Me - "You know I've always wondered what his real name is...and I've said before that I wouldn't judge it no matter how crazy it is"
L: Blubby: "No, I don't care, I'm not telling any of you! Just drop it!"
Fish-snake: "Hey, don't try to force him, he's probably got a good reason he doesn't like people knowing his real name."
S: Dolphin-Snake - "Hmmph! Chicken, it's just a name! It's not like I'll be a laughing stock to us, come on now! I wanna know!"
Me - "Look he said no ok?? Jeez..."
L: Blubby is clearly starting to get mad at this point. "It doesn't matter what you say, I'm NOT saying it!"
Fish-snake: "That's enough already, we don't know what this guy can do when he gets mad..."
S: Dolphin-Snake - "Ugh, too chicken to say something as simple as a name! Just say it! One time! That's all I want!"
Me - "Oh boy..." I swim away a bit
L: Blubby: "NO!" He angrily roars at the dolphin-snake, sounding bubbly as the necklace doesn't seem to work on that, and he storms away from them.
The fish-snake sighs at the dolphin-snake. "And what do you think he's gonna tell people about you now, huh?"
S: the dolphin snake whimpers at blubby's roar
Dolphin-Snake - "I-i-im sorry! I'm sorry!!!"
Me - "Blubby calm down! Your my air tank! You just wasted a lot of air doing that...."
L: Blubby: "C-crap, sorry... Just got carried away..." His horns are about a quarter blue, and he's beginning to blush just a little.
S: my face was a tad bit red myself as I pet blubby a little to calm him down
Me - "Yeah please don't waste anymore air...I don't wanna be uncomfortable"
the dolphin-snake swims over to us
Dolphin-Snake - "I'm sorry about that... I got carried away in the moment, please forgive me..."
L: Blubby: "It's okay, you're not the first to want to know my real name that bad..."
Fish-snake: "I hope you didn't lose TOO much air, that looked like a lot of bubbles."
S: Me - "Don't worry, blubby can hold his breath up to 6 hours, so he's fine! Thankfully"
Dolphin-Snake - "Breath Holding for 6 hours?? Jeez..."
L: Blubby: "Yeah, my lungs hold WAY more air than you'd think they do."
Fish-snake: "Oh, well, you've got nothing to worry about then!"
S: Dolphin-Snake - "I may not know much about breath holding, but that sounds impressive"
Me - "I can only go about 13 minutes if I'm calm enough, but seeing as I'm still kind of stressed out about being so far down underwater, it's definitely less then that" my whole face turns fully red again, I grunt a little in strain this time
L: Blubby makes another bubble for you to breathe, though by now they're likely starting to get less effective. "We should probably start getting back to the base now, before we start having issues..."
Fish-snake: "Yeah, if you need to keep giving your friend air, you're definitely not going to last the full 6 hours..."
S: I inhale the bubble, and it is indeed less effective, my blush barely fades away
"T-thats a good idea, I don't wanna be down here any longer..."
Dolphin-Snake - "So what do we do? How could we follow you into that base like you wanted?"
L: Fish-snake: "If there's air in it, we're not gonna be able to breathe..."
Blubby: "Maybe you two could wait outside, and we can see if our boss can set something up to keep you guys safe in there."
S: Me - "Yeah that sounds like a plan, but wait...maybe we should take a picture of them so the boss knows that we aren't lying and found someone"
Dolphin-Snake - "I'm ok with that"
L: Fish-snake: "Yep, I'm cool with that too."
Blubby: "Okay, yeah, a quick picture, then we need to get back to the base."
S: I pull out a waterproof camera and position it to take their picture
Me - "Smile you two! Gotta look friendly for the boss!"
L: The fish-snake smiles at the camera, even though he's not entirely sure of what it is.
S: the dolphin-snake also smiles at the camera, rather cutely too as I take their picture
"Great shot! This should be fine for the boss"
L: Blubby: "Now, we'd better get a move on before we get too low on breath!"
Fish-snake: "We'll follow you guys there, if that's alright."
S: Dolphin-Snake - "Yeah, as far as we can go"
Me - "That's fine with me, but yeah let's go already! I wanna taste actual fresh air"
L: Blubby: "Luckily we've got a good trail to follow." He starts following his footprints in the sand to head back toward the base.
S: I follow behind and so does the dolphin-snake, however halfway there I pause to cover my mouth, the pressure was really hitting me now, my face turning blue now
L: Blubby blows out another bubble for you, though his face is now fully red from all the air he's given and the talking he's done. "W-we're gonna need to hurry..."
Fish-snake: "Don't drown, you two, I've heard it's pretty awful..."
S: Dolphin-Snake - "Oh jeez! Yeah please don't drown!"
I take the bubble and while it helps it barely does, reducing my blush to just fully red instead
Me - "I'm getting scared...I don't like being low on breath!"
L: Blubby: "There's nothing I can do about that at this point without wasting a lot of air!"
Fish-snake: "I hope we're not too far from that place you guys mentioned..."
S: "I don't think we're that far away from it, are we?!"
L: Blubby: "I-I think I can see the lights of it over there... Mmm..." He covers his mouth for a moment, his horns about halfway blue now.
S: "Oh good...mmm!" I cover my own mouth as well, getting nervous
L: Blubby: "We can make it, come on!" He tries to speed up a bit.
Fish-snake: "You guys have got this!"
S: Dolphin-Snake - "Yeah! Don't give up!"
I try to speed alone as well, with both hands covering my mouth as I was really getting scared at the possibility of drowning, my face was back to being blue
L: Even Blubby's face is starting to go a bit more blue than normal now, as the little bubbles he involuntarily releases begin to gradually get bigger.
S: the research place was getting into view, but I had to stop because my lungs were really hurting me, my face fully blue by now
L: Quickly noticing you've stopped, Blubby makes another bubble for you. "G-get on my back, and just focus on holding on!" His horns are 2/3 blue now.
S: I quickly inhale the bubble, but it barely does anything, making my face go back to red as I climb on blubby's back
Dolphin-Snake - "Oh no!! Please be ok!"
L: Fish-snake: "I think you two can make it if you hurry!"
Saving his air for now, Blubby nods and starts running toward the base, trailing bubbles behind him.
S: I hold onto blubby as he runs towards the base, trying to save my own air as I covered my mouth and whine
Dolphin-Snake - "Almost there! Just a bit further!"
L: Blubby whimpers some in his struggles, his horns 3/4 blue as his lips quiver a little, though he's not slowing down.
Fish-snake: "Don't give up!"
S: "This is intense to watch!" the dolphin-snake gives blubby and me a pet to hopefully calm us down, which helped me a little as I give a little smile, and we were just about there, I was whimpering too
L: It doesn't really help Blubby quite as much, but he's relieved to finally be so close to the base, knowing he'll finally get air again soon.
S: it doesn't help me that much either, but I was relived I was gonna get to breathe soon
L: Finally, you and Blubby get to the base's airlock again.
Blubby: "F-fish guys, w-wait out here!" He heads inside.
Fish-snake: "Right, yeah, there's gonna be air in there. See you soon."
S: Dolphin-Snake - "Ok!"
Me - "Come on! Let's hurry!"
we close the door and I press a button to make the airlock start to drain
L: ...But, the water doesn't drain, nor does the pressure drop. After a moment, you and Blubby hear a voice on the intercom. "Whoever's in there, sorry for the inconvenience. We're having a bit of trouble with the airlock, hopefully it'll be working soon."
Blubby looks over at you with a fearful expression, worried about how long it might take.
S: "WHAT?!?! WHY NOW?!?!" I look back at blubby with the same fearful expression, I really needed air like right now! I was getting worried
L: "W-we have to make w-what we have last!" Blubby lays down and covers his muzzle with both front paws, trying to keep from losing more air, though he's still bubbling a fair bit.
S: I cover my own mouth with both hands, whimpering a lot as I was getting very very scared, and just hoped the airlock will get fixed soon before we drown
L: Blubby keeps an eye on you in his struggles, ready to make more air bubbles for you if you need them, despite his lungs burning.
S: my face was fully blue already, thrashing around a bit to keep my air in
L: Hating seeing you struggling so hard, Blubby briefly uncovers his muzzle to quickly blow another big bubble for you. "J-just take it... I-I can handle this!" There's only about a tenth of his horns that isn't blue now.
S: I immediately inhale the bubble, dropping my face back to red
L: Blubby smiles a little bit for a moment, then just goes back to struggling. He's starting to shiver a little bit, his face now just beginning to go purple.
S: I was getting worried about blubby, and I just really hoped this will get fixed soon so we can finally breathe
L: The intercom goes off again. "Sorry it's taking so long, we should be just about done soon..."
Blubby: "H-HURRY UP ALREADY! MMM!"
S: "PLEASE HURRY!!! WERE DYING OUT HERE!!!! MMMM!!!!!"
L: There's no response, as the intercom is apparently only one way.
Blubby shudders and involuntarily blows out a big bubble, which he quickly gasps back down.
S: I keep whimpering and praying for the air lock to work again
L: Because of all the air he's been losing, Blubby has gotten to his limit, his horns almost entirely blue as big bubbles continually leak away and he constantly whimpers, trying his best to keep holding on.
S: my face was back to being blue as I try to hang in there a little longer, thankfully the airlock is just about fixed
L: Soon though, Blubby doesn't seem to be able to hold his breath any more. He starts coughing up bubbles that are each a bit bigger than his head, with barely any non-blue part on his horns.
The intercom goes off again. "Okay, done! Go ahead!"
S: as I cough up bubbles myself I quickly press the button to drain the water out of the airlock as fast as possible, and once their was room I bolt up and gasp heavily for breath
L: Blubby jumps up to try to breathe, but doesn't quite get high enough as he gasps water! As he starts to drown, he frantically props himself up to get his head high enough to get air, coughing up the water he sucked in.
S: my eyes go wide as I saw blubby gasp water, but seeing him above the water made me sigh of relief as I keep gasping down the air, the water quickly draining away
L: Once the room's drained, Blubby collapses in exhaustion as he pants and coughs. "M-maybe this... W-won't be as fun as I thought..."
S: I collapse as well, panting and coughing myself
"I tried...to warn you my friend...maybe we shouldnt...do this job at all after this... I know it pays well but I don't think it's worth it anymore"
L: "I-if it's gonna be this dangerous... Y-yeah, maybe we stop after we get done with this one..."
S: "Yeah, let's go tell the boss everything" I get up and help blubby up too before we head out of the airlock to our boss' room
L: You and Blubby get to the boss' room again before too long.
Haxorus: "There you are! So, anything to report?"
Blubby: "We actually met a couple intelligent fish out there, one that's like a glowing snake and another that's sort of like a dolphin!"
S: "Yeah! Here! I snapped a picture of them!"
I pull out the photo of the two kinds of weird fish and show it to the boss
L: The haxorus takes a look at it. "Woah, those are both completely new! Great work!"
Blubby: "They're actually waiting just outside, you can talk to them if you've got some way to safely get them in here!"
S: "Yeah, oh and also...we got stuck in the airlock while it still filled with water and we were very low on air, scary experience if I may say and dangerous... so...unfortunately, me and blubby decided to no longer work here at this base, it's not fun, even blubby agrees, I hate every minute of it and it's just too dangerous! I hope you understand sir..."
L: Haxorus: "Oh crap, I'd heard someone was stuck in there, that was you guys!? Someone that can breathe underwater was outside too, I thought it was him!"
Blubby: "Yeah, no, it was us... I really don't want to end up risking something like that again, I was worried that was gonna be it..."
S: "Yep, I was really worried about drowning back there, very traumatizing...I hate it! I hate it! So yeah, we're done here..."
L: The haxorus sighs. "Fair enough, I suppose... You sure you don't just want to be reassigned from outside stuff? I can probably find something else for you to do."
Blubby: "...No, Emilio hates even coming down here at all. I don't think that'll work."
S: "Nope, not at all...being dozens of feet underwater everyday is not my thing...I'm sorry but we're getting outta here and never coming back, ESPECIALLY this deep!"
L: Haxorus: "...Alright, that's fine... I'll have that submarine come by to pick you guys up in about half an hour."
Blubby: "Okay, thanks... Glad this is gonna be done with."
S: "Half an hour?! I wanna get outta here NOW!!!" I was on the verge of tearing up, I've suffered being down here this deep for long enough and I wanna get the heck outta here!
L: Haxorus: "H-hey, relax! You'll be out of here without anything else happening, you don't have to worry!"
Blubby: "Our only option for leaving sooner would be to ride on someone that can swim really fast, but even I don't want to go underwater again right now."
S: "I don't really wanna go underwater again right now either, but at the same time...I wanna get outta here asap! I'm sick of being so far from the surface"
L: Haxorus: "I don't think we've got any other way right now... Unless someone here is able to teleport you guys, but I doubt it."
Blubby: "I mean, I've heard that's possible, but yeah, we're probably not gonna get to do that."
S: "Ugh, that would be so nice if someone could teleport us out..."
L: Haxorus: "Well, you could certainly ask around, maybe someone can! As unlikely as that is..."
Blubby: "You know what, it's worth a shot. Come on, Emilio, let's see if we can get teleported to the surface."
S: "Ok! Let's do that then, hopefully luck is on our side..."
L: Haxorus: "Alright, good luck you two. If all else fails, that submarine's still coming."
S: "Alright thanks!"
blubby and I then walk around to try and find someone who can teleport us back to the surface
L: Blubby: "Hm... Some Pokemon are able to teleport, right? Maybe one of those ones is around... But you'll probably have to be the one to point them out, I'm still not very familiar with Pokemon."
S: "Yeah, there's a handful of pokemon that can teleport... we'll just have to be on the lookout for one"
L: As you and Blubby are saying that, the two of you happen to be passing by a xatu.
Xatu: "Excuse me for butting in, but... You two mentioned teleporting?"
Blubby: "Yeah, we're looking for someone that can get us to the surface. Do you know someone that can?"
S: "Hmm a Xatu, you don't see these guys that often, but yeah we did mention teleporting"
L: Xatu: "Oh, I know Teleport, I can help you guys!"
Blubby: "Hey, that's perfect!"
S: "Oh really? Well, ok then! That's awesome! Teleport us up to the surface then! Preferably on the shore of the water"
L: Xatu: "Alright, hold onto me!" He holds out his wings, one of which Blubby holds.
S: "Thanks Xatu!" I hold his other wing, a bit nervous since I've never experienced teleportation before
L: Blubby is clearly nervous too, but still willing to go through with this.
The xatu closes their eyes and focuses... And after a flash of light, everyone's up at the beach closest to the base!
S: "Whoa! That was awesome! And we're back to the beach! Ahh, fresh air!"
L: Blubby: "O-oh wow, we actually went somewhere!" He looks around, though seems a bit dizzy.
Xatu: "Take it slow, teleporting can sometimes mess with your head some, especially when it's someone else that moved you."
S: I was a little dizzy too, but I maintain my balance and walk forward
"Thanks a lot xatu, you saved us a lot of trouble...im never going that deep again!"
L: Blubby: "Yeah, we were gonna have to wait for a submarine to come down, and then who knows how long it would've taken for it to get us to the surface... So, thanks for making it quick for us."
Xatu: "No worries! I always do this instead of taking the submarines, I hate those things..."
S: "Yeah, I've learned to hate it too, I appreciate it, your a life saver" I give the xatu a hug as a thank you
"Now to go home and take a nap"
L: The xatu hugs you back. "Sleep well! I have to get back to work, but I'm glad to have helped you two."
Blubby: "Thanks again, dude!"
S: "Yeah, your the best! And I will plan on sleeping well thanks, well blubby, this is where we part ways for now, I'll be seeing you!" I go over to give blubby a hug goodbye
L: Blubby hugs you back. "Yep, see you again sometime!"
The xatu teleports away, heading back down to the underwater base.
S: and so after that heartfelt hug, me and blubby part ways and I make my way back home for a well deserved rest, I knew I was never ever EVER gonna return to that deep underwater base after that experience
