Looking back/ Is the furry fandom becoming like Car culture?

Yeah, another school year has come and gone!
I can sit back and relax, take in a few Anime/Furry Conventions.this year was nuts given all the staff who quit/retired during the year, the joys of being a college professor 🙄  ( I teach Automotive technology )

Its funny how people say the furry fandom is turning toxic, I had one student artist, tell me she was looking at getting out of the fandom and give up being an artist, luckily I talked her out of it

I disagree with the idea the furry fandom is becoming toxic, i believe we just have a major troll problem

you really wanna see toxic you should see Car culture in the US...now that's the textbook definition of toxic environment, where fights, bullying and shooting are the norm.

When have you ever heard of a shooting at a furry convention? Ya know SEMA in Las Vegas used to be open to the public but after 4 shooting, its now only open to automotive press and some invited auto youtubers

Man it would've really suck if furry conventions became invitation only.

I think people in the fandom need to be a bit more scrutinizing ( I guess ) of new people to weed the trolls out.

Just food for thought

about 12 years ago i said something along the lines of 'with the way things are going the fandom is going to become commercialized and have sports team rivalries over how to properly be an animal on the internet'

You can't really weed trolls out of something. Once a following gets to be so big it can't really police or filter its self and you unfortunately have to live with all of the negatives that come with increased popularity.
