Get an Alternative to PayPal as Soon as You Can

I and many others lost our PayPal accounts today. A warning to all of you who use PayPal whether you are an artist, a commissioner, or both. It is not a question of if you will lose your PayPal account but when. I recommend that we all start looking for and building up a better payment processor. That shitty site has dominated online payment processing for long enough. Fuck PayPal and I hope they rot.

Thanks. It was probably gonna happen at some point. They have an unstable business model that is going to collapse if they keep pulling this stuff.

When mass bans happen like that it might be because probably multiple people paid to a 3rd party that was discovered to violate paypal tos and unleashed a chain ban.
The same thing happened to the people who got paid or bought from adore-a-pup some time ago

Right. I remember when that happened. That might have happened here as well. Though it is bizarre to see them going after just simple personal accounts alongside the business accounts. It sucks either way.

It always feels like you're walking on eggshells with PayPal. A payment processor shouldn't make you constantly fear about you making one wrong move and losing everything.

Coinbase could be a good alternative if you can handle cripto, it also on American territory let's you have a debit card thst converts crypto into usd

The only way for people to send a message is to stop using their stuff. Windows 8 never took off because people didn't use it. Windows Vista didn't take off because people didn't use it. If people stop using something that sends a bigger message than anything else under the sun. Just stop using something if you don't like it or the folks behind it.

Exactly. Granted that's easier for me to do since I got removed from it but we should definitely inspire other people to stop using it and giving it such a dominant presence.

What has to happen is people have to stop using all of big tech in order to make a statement. Google would pretty much fall by the wayside once enough people stop using their stuff.

ah shit i wish i had seen this sooner.

About around the same time as this i had a call with paypal to clear up this whole thing and to make sure my accounts were fine.

So apparently the actual reason accounts get banned is because their auto-flagging system is really over sensitive. If you mention terms such as NSFW or PORN or ADULT or anything like that, the system will auto flag it after a while. and it can lead to a ban.

you can call and get your account reinstated if you are an artist who isn't making irl video content or selling sex toys.

why the specificty?

because paypal does ban sale of NSFW irl delivered content and sex toys.

the wording in the actual TOS is vague and should be fixed but they wont bother most likely.

Basically,

name your invoices "art" or "painting of character"

as a customer don't put any nsfw stuff in to any of the invoice forms to be safe, keep all commission dialog off of paypal.

if your account does get banned you will have to call. if you do not call the tech will just read the TOS and make a mistake.

hope that helps out anyone who is still having this issue.
